The deaf awareness course was well received by our group of young dentists. It worked at many levels. It helped them to understand the specific needs of deaf people and to communicate at a basic level. Hearing people often find it difficult to now how much or little to do. The course enabled them to examine what may be thought of as obvious things such as getting the environment right and aids to communication such as lights and buzzers. In a broader sense they gained transferable skills in how to consider others with special needs. Educationally the course was well presented informative and entertaining.

I recently hosted a Deaf Awareness Training Day for the Dental Team. Lucy and Tony were excellent presenters and the feedback from the delegates was exceptionally high. All enjoyed the interactive part of the day and some have been inspired to seek further training in their own time. The day was easy to organise and the necessary paperwork was efficiently processed.

The day is a well balanced mixture of theory, demonstrations, workshops and role playing resulting in delegates wanting more at the end of day. It's suitable for all members of the team and gives delegates a great insight in to what it means to be a deaf person as well as being confident in communication via sign language and other deaf friendly gestures.
This is one of the best courses for the whole dental team that we have ever run in Nottingham. Lucy and Tony are great at both organising and presenting and have the ability to hold everyone's attention with great enthusiasm for the whole duration which I have to say isn't an easy task.

I'd like to thank you for the DAT course you provided last week. I returned to the workplace with a different perspective on certain customer needs, opening my eyes to difficulties some customers might face. The course content was thorough, but fun, with a mixture of group tasks, the role-plays with ear plugs being the best eye opener! Lucy is very encouraging and approachable, providing a relaxed environment where my team could ask many questions they may not have been able to ask a hearing tutor - well done Lucy!
